Michele Stern is a clinical psychotherapist and educator who is currently in private practice in Palm Beach, FL, where she provides psychotherapeutic services to children, teens, adults, couples, families, and the elderly. She speaks publicly, and conducts educational workshops and support groups. She serves as a consultant to various agencies and has helped foster the development of professional peer groups. Michele has been a regular guest on several local radio stations with host Vincent Dolce, DMD discussing marriage, relationships and other life issues. She has also appeared on CBS12 News and other local television stations. Her engaging approach utilizes various therapies, including creative techniques, psychodynamic support, hypnotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapies, behavior activation, solutions focus, coaching, EMDR, and life space counseling or home visitation, among many others.
Before relocating to Florida, Michele Stern was in private practice in Pennsylvania, where she served the community in many capacities. Prior to that she was in New York, where she was a therapist for the Suffolk County Dept. of Mental Health working with a diverse psychiatric population, while maintaining her own successful private practice. While a New York State educator, she initiated the first Special Education class for the learning disabled in the Port Washington Schools.
Michele Stern continues to contribute to the communities she resides in. She has facilitated groups and trained group leaders, coordinated Rainbows, a program for children and parents who have experienced loss through death or divorce, worked with the homeless through the Interfaith Nutrition Network, and guided groups of the physically and mentally challenged at the Museums in Stony Brook, NY. She has provided “therapeutic scholarships,” crisis intervention, marriage preparation and parenting programs, and pro bono groups for adolescents.
She earned her B.A. from Queens College, NY cum laude and was selected for Lifetime Membership in Kappa Delta Pi, a National Honor Society in Education. She has a Masters with Distinction, in Special Education, from Hofstra University, and an M.S.W. from SUNY at Stony Brook at the head of her class. She holds New York State licenses in Education and Clinical Social Work, and is a Licensed Social Worker in Pennsylvania and Florida.
She now resides happily on Hypoluxo Island.
